What NOT to Do:

"When we see a friend in a bad situation, our first instinct is to try and fix it. But there are some things you should avoid:

  • Don’t attack the abuser directly. 

  • Don’t blame or shame your friend. 

  • Don’t try to force them out. 

  • Don’t give up on them. 

What TO Do:

  1. Be a safe space.

  2. Talk, don’t pressure. 

  3. Help them recognize the abuse. 

  4. Give them resources. 

  5. Help them create a safety plan. 

  6. Be patient.
